Product Introduction

Ashitaba Extract Chalcones Powder Supplier

Healthkintai® specializes in supplying Ashitaba extract chalcones powder. Commercial Ashitaba (Angelica keiskei) extract powders generally contain 8–10% total chalcones (e.g., 4-hydroxykushenin and xanthohumol), while the powder from Healthkintai® has a chalcone content of not less than 15%.

The name “Ashitaba” literally translates to “tomorrow’s leaf” in Japanese. It comes from the plant’s excellent regenerative ability. Ashitaba Extract is a natural active ingredient derived from Ashitaba, with chalcone compounds (such as xanthoangelol and 4-hydroxyderricin) as its primary active components.

Ashitaba Extract Chalcones Powder Botanical Source

The tender stems and leaves of Ashitaba are the core raw materials for our extraction, as these two parts have the highest content of chalcone compounds, along with the advantages of convenient harvesting and rapid regeneration, making them suitable for large-scale continuous production.

The roots also contain a certain amount of chalcones, yet the content is lower than that in the stems and leaves. Moreover, harvesting the roots will damage the plants and render them unable to regenerate.

The flowers, seeds and other parts of Ashitaba have extremely low chalcone content, and are also difficult to collect.

  • Select fresh tender stems and leaves of Ashitaba, clean, dry (hot air or vacuum freeze drying), and crush into 20–40 mesh powder.
  • Use 50%–70% ethanol-water solution as solvent, mix at a solid-liquid ratio of 1:10–1:20, and perform reflux or ultrasonic-assisted extraction at 50–60℃ (2–3 cycles, 1–2 hours each).
  • Filter and centrifuge the extract to remove residues; concentrate under vacuum to get extract paste. Purify via macroporous resin column (e.g., AB-8) with gradient ethanol elution to increase total chalcone content to over 15%.

Concentrate the purified eluent, dry into powder by spray or vacuum freeze drying; crush and sieve through 80–120 mesh, then sterilize and package.

3. Is Ashitaba good for fatty liver?

Yes, Ashitaba shows promising potential for fatty liver (NAFLD) as studies suggest it helps reduce liver fat, improve lipid metabolism (lower triglycerides/cholesterol), and decrease obesity by activating fat breakdown and inhibiting fat production, possibly through the AMPK and FXR pathways, though more human trials are needed. It’s rich in beneficial compounds like chalcones and chlorophyll, supporting liver detoxification and overall metabolic health, but consult a doctor before use, especially with medications.
