The process for extracting Phloretin from apple peels produced by Healthkintai^® mainly includes the following steps: First, the apple peels are washed, dried, and crushed; then, anhydrous ethanol is used for reflux extraction at a material-to-liquid ratio of 1:15, and the extraction is repeated 2-3 times; after filtering the extract, hydrochloric acid or β-glucosidase is added for hydrolysis to convert phlorizin into phlorizin; the hydrolysate is enriched by ethyl acetate extraction and then purified by column chromatography or preparative HPLC; finally, after concentration and drying, high-purity phlorizin powder is obtained.

Phloretin powder is practically insoluble in water, falling into the category of compounds with extremely poor aqueous solubility. Reported water solubility values vary slightly across sources, typically ranging from about 0.007 mg/mL (7 μg/mL) to 0.115 mg/mL. In contrast, it dissolves readily in organic solvents-for instance, it shows good solubility in dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) at 46–55 mg/mL, and achieves similar solubility in anhydrous ethanol. It is also readily soluble in other polar organic solvents such as methanol and acetone. Consequently, in practical applications-whether in cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, or scientific research-phloretin powder is typically first dissolved in an organic solvent like DMSO or ethanol, and then further diluted into an aqueous system for use.
